Saturday happenings and Vogue 8821

Feeling myself right now, ijs lol! 9months being pregnant
has that effect on a person lol...
I told y'all I've been productive, right? One would think that with a newborn and two boys that life would be no more, right? WRONG!!! Y'all, I am still getting my life and maintaining as normal, as that's the only way to stay normal, I think.. My creative, sewing juices are through the roof, and I'm not complaining one bit. I even stopped by my local Hancock's for the new fall Vogue patterns. But, I'll talk about them a wee bit later, let's get back to this top shall we!
Vogue 8821
I fell hard for this top when I seen Kelly's version, and knew I had to have one myself. It took me a minute to get to it. I mean with carrying life and all for nine whole long months (insert eye roll from my husband) lol! This top was ridiculously easy on the ease factor, which was a major score for me.
I believe the pattern for view A, the view I made has three pieces, yass! I used a new to me fabric, a Rayon Challis from I will say not one of my favorite fabrics to work with, but maybe one of my favorites to wear, especially in this Texas heat!

I didn't make any alterations to the top, but should I make this top again and I shall! Then I will lengthen the front an inch, just my personal preference, not really trying to show off my tiger stripes, but dang it I earned them lol!  For reference I'm 5'7 and have a long torso. I also sewed the back straight up the middle, and I didn't find this to be too tight.. So, if you don't own this pattern and this is your style, grab this one because it's such a stylish top..

Well, I hope you ladies are enjoying your weekend and getting plenty of sewing in! I'm off to get my sewing plans together for fall.. Be blessed and nothin' less and continue to stay fearlessly fierce!

  1. This is so cute on you and you look fantastic for just giving birth!!!

  5. Ok Candice. Such a quick bounce back. You look fantastic! This is such a cute top. I feel like I've had enough hi-low stuff for the moment but this pattern (love those line drawings) requires reconsideration! You look great! Such a great print for this top! Nice work!

The jumpsuit that didn't quite make the Christmas party appearance! M7632

Hey guys! So, long time no blog, right? LOL! I haven't been doing much sewing lately. I was finishing up with my Bachelor's degree, in which I finished up in October, thank you, Jesus!  I'm gearing up for starting on my Master's soon.

Well, let's jump into what this blog is really about, which is M7632. I absolutely loved this pattern when McCall's first released this pattern, and finally got around to it. This pattern sews up fairly quickly, and with only four pattern pieces makes for a great pattern in this busy mom book. I was hoping to finish this jumpsuit in time for my friendship Christmas party with girls, but alas, that didn't happen, lol.

I wasn't too sure what size to make as I have been on a weight loss journey this year and have lost quite of bit of weight. Although I've managed to lose quite a bit of weight, it's still sometimes hard to see yourself, the new version of yourself. I ended up cutting a size too big in the bodice …

The three pattern dress that took a month to finish:Simplicity 8383

Guys so my sewing mojo has been pretty much non- existent-hence the reason it has taken me over a month to finish the hem of this simple dress,lol..  This dress is Simplicity 8383 and I was so gun-ho  in making this dress, that I went out and purchased the pattern and paid full price, as I couldn't bare to wait the shipping out, then only to take a month to hem said dress that I just had to have :)..

This pattern is very easy. If you have any sewing experience, the instructions would not be of importance to you. The view that I made, view C, has only four pattern pieces:front, back, neck band, and the arm hole binding pattern pieces for the arm holes. I made the 16 and added four inches to the dress and I was still only able to do a tiny hem, so be mindful if you're only the taller end like myself. For the fabric, I used a rayon blend knit fabric that I purchased from a local vendor here in Hawaii some time ago, and I really adore the drape and movement of this fabric.

Review: M7543

Hey y'all! I'm back with a quick little review, which really I wasn't sure if I was going to make a blog post- due to how quick this project is, but here we are, lol. I also want to thank everyone again on the well wishes on winning the McCall's contest, that was such an amazing thing to happen to me!

It's no secret that off the shoulder is trending, or still trending really hard since last year and I'm lovin' it! This pattern is McCall's 7543, I believe this pattern was apart of the Spring collection, and of course, by now there are lovely versions everywhere of this awesome pattern.

I used an African print fabric that I had been hoarding for sometime now, and I'm glad to have finally gotten a chance to use some of this print up already.

I made the large,as that's the size that I had in my stash prior to dropping a few pounds ( almost 40 now, thank you Jesus!) I just took a deeper seam allowance, no harm, no foul, this pattern is very forgivin…
