M6612 ,Oh how I need a closet full of thee....

I like to leave my other projects on my dress form a little longer for inspiration lol..Does anyone else do that?

M6612, Oh how I love thee! This dress beyond being only three pattern pieces, yes three! Front, back, and the neck piece, easy stuff, I tell you... I literally got up and started on this dress this morning at  about 8am and by 11am I had a new dress..This does include me doing my mommy duties, and chatting it up with my momma, lol...

I hadn't really paid any attention to this pattern until I saw Toy's version, and was like okay, this has just gotten serious, lol...I knew I had to have one to, and to make the deal sweeter, everything was in my stash. The knit fabric, I had purchased over four years ago when I was just learning how to sew. I am so glad that I still had this in my stash. Did I say that this pattern only had three pattern pieces? I did, huh? LOL..I'm sorry, but that right there excited me, yes it did...

I was ready for sweetest day today, it is a real day..My husband had to check my sources too LOL..
I didn't have to make any alterations, well, I don't know if this is really an alteration. I only had to take it in on the sides, and cut off some length..This dress is long! And I'm no shortie, I have on 4 1/2 inch heels here and this dress was still long.. Nothing major, this is something that can be handled as you go.. I also added bias binding to the armholes, for a more professional finish, now if only I can get the professional part right, sigh..  I love this dress! It's fast, it fits nicely, it's trendy and FAST!
I highly recommend this one if you haven't already tried it... Alright ladies, I hope you are having a wonderful, blessed weekend..Be blessed and nothin' less and continue to stay fearlessly fierce!

  1. That's a HOT dress Lady! Usually I have issues with cowls but your fabric choice and color and the drape of this cowl is just perfect. Nice job!

  2. Got yourself a Saturday morning winner there Candice and I love it. Yes, I'm another one who leaves the last finished garment on the dressform to marinate for a while (especially if I like it a lot).

  7. Great basic dress! This dress works for so many different occasions depending on you style it. The fact that it fits you so well and is a quick sew is even better! I could imagine one in stripes.

  10. I definitely leave things on my form to further inspire me. Doesn't everyone? Love your long dress. I had one of similar shape and color and wore it into the ground. This will give you lots of bang for your buck effort.

The three pattern dress that took a month to finish:Simplicity 8383

Guys so my sewing mojo has been pretty much non- existent-hence the reason it has taken me over a month to finish the hem of this simple dress,lol..  This dress is Simplicity 8383 and I was so gun-ho  in making this dress, that I went out and purchased the pattern and paid full price, as I couldn't bare to wait the shipping out, then only to take a month to hem said dress that I just had to have :)..

This pattern is very easy. If you have any sewing experience, the instructions would not be of importance to you. The view that I made, view C, has only four pattern pieces:front, back, neck band, and the arm hole binding pattern pieces for the arm holes. I made the 16 and added four inches to the dress and I was still only able to do a tiny hem, so be mindful if you're only the taller end like myself. For the fabric, I used a rayon blend knit fabric that I purchased from a local vendor here in Hawaii some time ago, and I really adore the drape and movement of this fabric.

The jumpsuit that didn't quite make the Christmas party appearance! M7632

Hey guys! So, long time no blog, right? LOL! I haven't been doing much sewing lately. I was finishing up with my Bachelor's degree, in which I finished up in October, thank you, Jesus!  I'm gearing up for starting on my Master's soon.

Well, let's jump into what this blog is really about, which is M7632. I absolutely loved this pattern when McCall's first released this pattern, and finally got around to it. This pattern sews up fairly quickly, and with only four pattern pieces makes for a great pattern in this busy mom book. I was hoping to finish this jumpsuit in time for my friendship Christmas party with girls, but alas, that didn't happen, lol.

I wasn't too sure what size to make as I have been on a weight loss journey this year and have lost quite of bit of weight. Although I've managed to lose quite a bit of weight, it's still sometimes hard to see yourself, the new version of yourself. I ended up cutting a size too big in the bodice …

Review: M7543

Hey y'all! I'm back with a quick little review, which really I wasn't sure if I was going to make a blog post- due to how quick this project is, but here we are, lol. I also want to thank everyone again on the well wishes on winning the McCall's contest, that was such an amazing thing to happen to me!

It's no secret that off the shoulder is trending, or still trending really hard since last year and I'm lovin' it! This pattern is McCall's 7543, I believe this pattern was apart of the Spring collection, and of course, by now there are lovely versions everywhere of this awesome pattern.

I used an African print fabric that I had been hoarding for sometime now, and I'm glad to have finally gotten a chance to use some of this print up already.

I made the large,as that's the size that I had in my stash prior to dropping a few pounds ( almost 40 now, thank you Jesus!) I just took a deeper seam allowance, no harm, no foul, this pattern is very forgivin…
