"Spring Fever"

I am definitely yearning for Spring, after enduring  a harsh cold winter in Japan this year... Probably nothing more than a little brisk air compared to others, who brave the coldest of the coldest temperatures...But hey, I am a Florida Diva!  So, I am ready for some sunny skies and warmer weather....

I am so excited this year, with this being my first year that I am sewing more completed garments(read wearable) and less wadders.... And I have to thank the vast majority of my success to the wonderful sewing blogs, and Internet sewing sites  who share their talents and knowledge unselfishly with the world... And now that I have given my thank you speech lol...  Now, that I am gaining more confidence; however, somehow I am feeling like wow it's so many patterns, fabric, etc etc... what do I do!

So, I thought  I would  devise a Spring sewing plan if you will, now let's hope and pray this sees the light of day lol! So, here is my first plan not sure if I will stick to this but it's a start... First up I have Simplicity 2560

View A in maybe cream or brown!
View C fabric something floral ( I think)
I have been meaning to get back to this one after butchering my hem while trying to cook and hem this before
Thanksgiving dinner *ahem* note to self don't try that again!
This is just a rough draft of my ever changing thoughts so I am sure I will add to or change as the mood changes.. Well Divas that's all I have for now.. I can't wait to see your Spring looks and inspirations! As always Divas be blessed and nothin' less!

  1. Great plan!! I will be finished with 2451 this week sometime. I like it so far! 2560 is also one I have been eyeing. In K designs are some of my favorites!

  3. Vanessa I can't wait to see the finished skirt that you have planned I adore that skrit.... @ Faye thank you so much for all your encouragement! I can't say it enough how I LOVE that recent dress of yours it is FAB!

  4. Really cute choices. I really love the wrap dress. It's been on my to sew list since it came out. Can't wait to see the fabric choices and how they all come out.

  5. Thanks Lauren and I loved your latest outfit from the Me-made-march 11 so chic!

  6. I've made that dress and skirt, I love those two patterns especially that dress, I hope you find the time to make it, you will wear it to death

The jumpsuit that didn't quite make the Christmas party appearance! M7632

Hey guys! So, long time no blog, right? LOL! I haven't been doing much sewing lately. I was finishing up with my Bachelor's degree, in which I finished up in October, thank you, Jesus!  I'm gearing up for starting on my Master's soon.

Well, let's jump into what this blog is really about, which is M7632. I absolutely loved this pattern when McCall's first released this pattern, and finally got around to it. This pattern sews up fairly quickly, and with only four pattern pieces makes for a great pattern in this busy mom book. I was hoping to finish this jumpsuit in time for my friendship Christmas party with girls, but alas, that didn't happen, lol.

I wasn't too sure what size to make as I have been on a weight loss journey this year and have lost quite of bit of weight. Although I've managed to lose quite a bit of weight, it's still sometimes hard to see yourself, the new version of yourself. I ended up cutting a size too big in the bodice …

The three pattern dress that took a month to finish:Simplicity 8383

Guys so my sewing mojo has been pretty much non- existent-hence the reason it has taken me over a month to finish the hem of this simple dress,lol..  This dress is Simplicity 8383 and I was so gun-ho  in making this dress, that I went out and purchased the pattern and paid full price, as I couldn't bare to wait the shipping out, then only to take a month to hem said dress that I just had to have :)..

This pattern is very easy. If you have any sewing experience, the instructions would not be of importance to you. The view that I made, view C, has only four pattern pieces:front, back, neck band, and the arm hole binding pattern pieces for the arm holes. I made the 16 and added four inches to the dress and I was still only able to do a tiny hem, so be mindful if you're only the taller end like myself. For the fabric, I used a rayon blend knit fabric that I purchased from a local vendor here in Hawaii some time ago, and I really adore the drape and movement of this fabric.

Review: M7543

Hey y'all! I'm back with a quick little review, which really I wasn't sure if I was going to make a blog post- due to how quick this project is, but here we are, lol. I also want to thank everyone again on the well wishes on winning the McCall's contest, that was such an amazing thing to happen to me!

It's no secret that off the shoulder is trending, or still trending really hard since last year and I'm lovin' it! This pattern is McCall's 7543, I believe this pattern was apart of the Spring collection, and of course, by now there are lovely versions everywhere of this awesome pattern.

I used an African print fabric that I had been hoarding for sometime now, and I'm glad to have finally gotten a chance to use some of this print up already.

I made the large,as that's the size that I had in my stash prior to dropping a few pounds ( almost 40 now, thank you Jesus!) I just took a deeper seam allowance, no harm, no foul, this pattern is very forgivin…
